The CBI apprehended Senior Section Engineer Arun Kumar Mahato, Soho Senior Section Engineer Muhammad Amir Khan, and Technician Pappu Kumar. The Ministry of Railways had previously released the Railway Safety Commissioner's report, which said that the cause of the accident was a signaling error.
