Covid-19: An increase in hospital admissions in Alberta since July

As reported by Alberta Health Minister Adriana LaGrange, there has been a rise in hospital admissions owing to COVID-19, influenza, RSV, and other respiratory infections. Three weeks after the start of the academic year, the health minister issued a new update. The number of persons admitted to the hospital as a result of Covid has increased by 73%.As reported by LaGrange, there were 92 new hospital cases and three ICU hospitalizations from August 28 to September 8. As a result, the number of persons receiving treatment in the hospital has risen to 417. Seven people are being treated in the intensive care unit. There have been 28 influenza cases and five lab-confirmed RSP cases reported since August 28. According to provincial health officials, flu season begins in late August or early September.
