Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with External Affairs Minister S. Jayashankar at a time when diplomatic relations between India and Canada were strained following the death of Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. India has condemned Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's claim that Indian intelligence officials were responsible for the killing of Canadian citizen Nijjar. For the protest, Canada's High Commissioner Cameron McCoy was summoned to the Foreign Ministry's office. India removed Canada's intelligence chief, Oliver Sylvester, and gave him five days to leave the country, rejecting Canada's claims.
