According to Mark Miller, the minister of immigration, a contentious option to let new Canadians take the oath online is still being considered. But he assured the press that he had no immediate plans to carry out the strategy. The government asked for feedback from the public on the notion of allowing new Canadians to take the oath of citizenship with a single click rather than in person in February.
Although the administration was supposed to announce the new law's implementation in June of this year, nothing was spoken. The Immigration Department is still debating the proposal, the Minister retorted. He added that he believes that this is a smart move.
