Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly has acknowledged that five Canadians have been murdered and three are missing in the Israel-Hamas conflict. The federal government has also proposed that it consider rescuing Canadian citizens in Lebanon. Until Saturday, four people had been killed. The government has also indicated that the hunt for the missing people is ongoing. Melanie Jolie told reporters that she is now focused on providing safe passage for Canadian citizens fleeing Israel and Gaza. Jolly also stated that the plan to evacuate Canadian citizens stuck in Gaza via the Egyptian border at Rafah had been canceled due to an increase in border violence.
