Permanent Residency Backlogs in Canada: AG Report

While progress has been achieved, the federal government needs to enhance the structure of immigration programs in order to eliminate permanent residency backlogs, warns the Auditor General of Canada in a new report. According to Auditor General Karen Hogan's report, the federal government is unsure if it is making progress in lowering barriers and inequities for minorities. The report also recommends that attempts to modify Employment Insurance, Old Age Security, and the Canada Pension Plan be stepped up. Hogan's office audited eight permanent residency programs.
