Wait times in emergency rooms in Canada have grown, leading to an increase in patients returning without waiting for treatment. This is noted in the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) report for 2022-2023. According to the data, 1.3 million people avoided emergency rooms without seeking care throughout this time period. According to the research, that is how many people avoided emergency departments after registering for health care between April 1, 2022, and March 30, 2023. Based on the report, there has been a 34% increase in the number of people avoiding emergency departments in one year compared to the 963,000 reported in 2021-22. Meanwhile, 8.6 percent of the 15.1 million people who sought care in emergency departments returned without having to wait for medical attention.
