The One Nation One Election Committee had its second meeting in New Delhi. An eight-member committee led by former President Ram Nath Kovind investigated holding Lok Sabha and state legislature elections at the same time. The Committee provided suggestions while keeping in mind the current framework established by the Indian Constitution and other statutory measures. It was also investigated if constitutional amendments require state approval. It was determined at the first meeting last month to invite recognized national political parties, political parties in state governments, and other recognized state political parties to provide proposals and comments on the issue of simultaneous elections in the country. The committee also resolved to invite the Indian Law Commission to make recommendations on the topic.
