A suspect in the slaying of a Calgary police officer has been identified. Officer Andrew Harnett was killed by Al Asan Shah Muhammad, a teenager. The incident occurred in the year 2020. The suspect, who was 17 at the time, was transporting drugs in a vehicle when he collided with the officer. Muhammad attempted to flee the traffic stop because he was concerned that drugs would be discovered in the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle collided with Harnett and threw him.

Muhammad was 17 years old when he committed the crime. As a result, the accused's name was not made public under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Muhammad was initially charged with first-degree murder after being arrested following the incident. He was found guilty of murder after a trial. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison as an adult.
