The federal government has implemented cost-cutting measures. The administration has released information about a $500 million cost-cutting initiative. Organizations like the Canadian Space Agency and the Invest in Canada hub will freeze over 1% of their budgets. However, 61 government departments and agencies are not on the list of government institutions suffering budget cuts. The administration has said unequivocally that members of parliament and smaller organizations with yearly budgets of less than $25 million are exempt from the cost-cutting measures. Many agencies not on the list, like the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, and the National Capital Commission, are said to have budgets over $25 million.
