The Quebec strike:80,000 nurses line up for strike in Quebec

 

In Quebec, around 80,000 nurses and other healthcare workers will join the public sector strike. Starting Monday, FIQ's licensed practical nurses and respiratory therapists will join members from four unions representing 420,000 Quebec public-sector workers who began a week-long strike on Friday. Teachers, educational support staff, and laboratory technicians are among those on strike. They are also members of the Public Front, a coalition of four labor unions.

Unions rejected the government's new contract offer, which contained a 12.7 percent salary increase over five years, claiming it did not keep pace with inflation.
