Alberta is usually a winter wonderland during this season. But this is the driest fall season on record in the province after a long, dry spell across the province. This is due to an average temperature of five degrees Celsius. Environment Canada's Alyssa Pederson said Alberta is experiencing warmer-than-normal conditions due to the influence of the El Nino phenomenon.

2023 was the driest year. It also led to severe water shortages across much of the province, especially in Southern Alberta. Experts say that the province received only 20 percent of normal rainfall during the fall season this year. Therefore, weather experts are warning that in 2024 we will have to face extreme drought and water shortage.
