Salmonella in cantaloupe has resulted in seven deaths and 164 confirmed cases in Canada.

More salmonella cases connected to cantaloupe have been recorded in Canada, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada. In eight provinces, seven people were killed. So far, 164 cases have been reported. The PHAC stated that it is still recalling Malichita and Rudy brand cantaloupes due to salmonella contamination. According to the PHAC, illnesses have been documented in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. The most vulnerable are children under the age of five and adults aged 65 and up. According to PHAC, many dwell in long-term care homes and retirement assisted living facilities. The majority of them said they ate cantaloupe.
