The Alberta government intends to boost the monetary worth of gifts given to lawmakers and staff.

The Alberta government has approved an amendment regarding gifts to MLAs and staff. Before taking effect, a monetary gift, gift, or fee may be made. In November, Law Minister Mickey Amery submitted legislation to modify the Conflicts of Interest Act.Non-monetary gifts to politicians were previously limited at $200. And elected officials could receive up to $400 in tickets every year from any one source.
