A developer in Ontario was fined $180,000 for unlawfully marketing pre-construction homes.

A GTA-based developer was fined $180,000 by an Ontario court for illegally marketing pre-construction homes. Ideal(BC) Developments was fined more than $34,000 and ordered to pay $150,000 in reparations.Homebuyers have invested more than $5 million in a pre-construction property north of Toronto. However, no permit was secured to sell or build additional residences.Hundreds of thousands of dollars were unlawfully invested in Richmond Hill's new home sales. In Ontario, it was not legal to build or sell new residences. Ideal(BC) was fined $15,625 for illicit sales and $18,750 for failing to give evidence required for a search warrant by the Ontario Court of Justice.
