A 60-year-old man died after going through the ice at Onvatin Lake.

 

Sudbury police say a 60-year-old man died after falling through the ice on Onwattin Lake. According to police, the deceased was from the Hanmer community. The Greater Sudbury Police Service, Greater Sudbury Fire Services, and EMS arrived to the site and recovered the man unconscious from the lake. Despite efforts to save his life, the guy died as a result of his injuries, according to a police press statement. Sudbury Police have asked the Coroner's Office's assistance in the inquiry.
