Scams targeting South Asian businesses in Canada are on the rise.

 

According to police, fraud rings are targeting South Asian business owners in Canada. Police are alleged to be looking into related crimes in three provinces across the country. According to the detectives, this is the work of organized crime groups in Punjab.The police stated yesterday that gangs were extorting money from the owners of under-construction or abandoned houses by sending threatening messages. 

They are specifically targeting South Asian owners. Those who do not pay have their homes set on fire. Several cases of this nature have been recorded across the country.Extortion gangs were identified operating in Abbotsford, BC, by police in early December 2023.
