Justin Trudeau will designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization.

 

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. The IRGC is a special armed military unit that is part of Iran's armed forces. He stated that the IRGC's placement on the list of terrorist organizations is being considered.Trudeau made the news on the eighth anniversary of the IRGC's downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752. 

There were 55 Canadian citizens and 30 permanent residents among the 176 passengers murdered.However, there was a confrontation between Iran and the US following the execution of an Iranian major general, and the IRGC said that the plane was mistakenly shot down as an enemy plane.Trudeau paid respect to the victims and stated that the government would continue with the process, including investigating options to designate the IRGC as a terrorist group. For years, families of Canadians murdered in the plane accident have demanded that the formidable paramilitary group be designated as a terrorist organization.In 2012, Canada labeled the Quads Force, a division of the Revolutionary Guard, as a terrorist group.
