The Vancouver Park Board has warned that British Columbia's frozen lakes and ponds are unsafe. A slight difference in temperature causes the ice to thin. These ice sheets pose a danger to skaters and others. So the board issued a notice to people to stay away from frozen lakes and ponds. Officials are warning the public that the temperature is not cool enough for skating in Vancouver right now.

Despite signs warning of thin ice, Lost Lagoon and Trout Lake still had skaters this week due to wintry conditions. But board officials warned that the ice layer is not safe and that skaters should be careful.
