Parks Canada has announced that online reservations for Banff campsites have begun. Thousands of campers arrived for reservations for the summer season. Opened at 8 am on Friday, the reservation system was temporarily disrupted due to traffic. The booking took place within minutes of the site opening. Reservations are accepted for Tunnel Mountain, Lake Louise, Johnston Canyon, Two Jack Lakeside and Main, Rampart Creek, and Silverhorn Creek.

Some of the most popular sites, such as Two Jacks Lakeside, were nearly booked out within three minutes, officials said. This is the first year that Rampart Creek and Silverhorn Creek are fully reservable.

Reservations will be accepted starting Monday for backcountry camping in Banff, Kootenay, Yoho National Park, including Takaka Falls. Reservations for jasper sites will start from 8 am on Tuesday. Those outside of North America can book the camp online or by calling 1-877-737-3783. Visit the Parks Canada website for more information.
