Elderly mother and child pass on in southwest Calgary house fire

 

An elderly mother and her son died in a house fire near Southwood in southwest Calgary. A house fire broke out around 5:10 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Seymour Avenue Southwest. The Calgary Fire Department said the fire was under control.

Firefighters on arrival found an elderly woman and a man inside the home. CPR was administered immediately but the old woman died on the spot. Police have confirmed that the man, who appears to be in his 60s, is the woman's son. He was admitted to the hospital with severe burns but his life could not be saved. Postmortem of the deceased will be conducted on Monday.
