Indian Navy frees Iranian fishing vessel MV Iman hijacked by Somali pirates. The incident took place 700 nautical miles away from Kochi. The Indian warship INS Sumitra, which received the distress message from the ship, warned the pirates and then conducted a rescue mission using Dhruva helicopters. The navy said all 17 crew members on board were safe and the pirates had left the ship.

Two days ago, the Indian warship INS Visakhapatnam carried out a rescue mission after the Houthi missile attack on the British oil tanker in the Strait of Aden. India has stepped up security and surveillance amid the growing threat of pirates and Houthi rebels in the region.
