The Calgary City Council has announced that there will be no property tax rebates this year. Ask the government to make $23 million in budget cuts, which would amount to a one-time reimbursement for homeowners.

Councilors Wong, Chabot, Chu, and McLean advocated for the new action to provide relief to taxpayers from the 7.8 percent property tax hike passed by the council as a whole in November. The measure required two-thirds agreement from the council to proceed, but it failed 8-7. If it had passed, the homeowner would have saved around $4 per month.
