Measles cases are being widely reported in some countries of the world. In this context, the World Health Organization and the US Center for Disease Control have issued a warning. Measles has been reported in Europe, the United States and some Mediterranean countries, but health precautions have been advised in Canada as well.

A recent warning from the Windsor-Essex Health Unit talks about the possibility of measles at a local clinic in the area. As there is a possibility of spreading measles, Dr. Dr. Isaac Bogoch says. He also informed that vaccination should be made mandatory. Due to the rapid spread of the disease, a reduction in vaccine rates could lead to greater risk.

Although vaccination rates against measles are above 90 per cent in most of Canada, Bogoch says there are some gaps in the country's defense system against the disease. He said the decline in vaccination rates in recent years is adding to the concern.
