Heavy snowfall: Local emergency declared in Cape Breton

 

Cape Breton Municipality has declared a local state of emergency as heavy snow and winds continue. All transit in the municipality has been canceled due to inclement weather. Meteorologists warn that there is a possibility of snowfall up to 150 cm.

Mayor Amanda McDougal suggested that the public avoid unnecessary travel to allow crews to safely remove the snow. People should stay at home. The mayor informed that it is not safe to go on the road.
