Alberta's population is booming again. As the population grows, so do concerns about the health care system. According to the latest figures from the province, Alberta will see an increase of 194,000 people between October 2022 and October 2023. From October 2021 to 2022, an increase of 4.3 percent was recorded. This is the highest population in Alberta since 1980. According to experts, the lack of health workers in the province due to its population is causing concern among the people.

About 20,000 health workers will leave Alberta in 2023, according to a report by Statistics Canada. Those working in the health sector say that if they cannot survive in the province, health workers will leave the province en masse. More than half of doctors reveal they want to leave the system or move out of the province. Nurses unions say otherwise. Most nurses agree that they would go there if they got other great offers.

Experts say that if the government does not adopt measures to keep health workers in the province, the people will be in crisis. There are many hospitals that are suffering from shortage of staff. Many hospitals have to close emergency departments. The solution is to hire more health workers. As the population increases, the health care sector also needs to improve.
