Firecrackers burst in Tripunithura; Order for magisterial inquiry

Two people were killed in an explosion in the firecrackers brought for fireworks in Tripunithura, Puthyakav Temple. The explosion took place when the firecrackers brought from Palakkad were being unloaded from the tempo traveler and moved to the nearby concrete building at around eleven o'clock on Monday morning. 25 houses were partially or completely damaged. The roofs of four houses collapsed. The Ernakulam district administration has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the blast. The police investigation into the blast is also active. 4 people, including the temple officials who were arrested, were produced in the court.

The case is charged under non-bailable sections including the Explosives Act. The investigation is also focused on those who brought the explosives from Thiruvananthapuram. Meanwhile, the Pothankot police also registered a case against the contractors. A case was registered for illegal possession of explosives. Four people with severe burns are being treated at Kalamasery Medical College Hospital. Those whose houses were destroyed in the violent blast have been shifted to the auditorium in Puthikav. Tripunithura municipal councilors said that the full responsibility of the explosion lies with the Puthikav temple committee.
