In the context of reporting measles cases in Canada, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kieran Moore issued a health warning. Ontario Health, Ontario's top doctors and public health units have been alerted to the possibility of more cases being reported and measles outbreaks. At present four cases of measles have been reported in the country. Two of these are in Ontario. One in Peel Region and the other in Toronto.

Measles outbreaks are on the rise globally. Therefore, the entire health system in the province should be vigilant. Moore instructed. Measles has been confirmed in two Ontario children who recently traveled outside of Canada. They have been admitted to the hospital.

Health care providers should ensure that everyone is up to date with vaccinations, Dr. Moore said. He clarified that vaccination is the way to protect against measles.
