Canadian budget airline Lynx Air has announced that it is closing operations next week as the crisis deepens. The Calgary-based airline said in a news release that it is ceasing service effective Feb. 26 after filing for creditor protection with the Court of King's Bench of Alberta.

The airline said Lynx Air has faced a number of issues over the past year, including rising operating costs, higher fuel prices, exchange rates and rising airport charges. The company also announced that it will stop operations from 12:01 am on Monday. Passengers with existing bookings are advised to contact their credit card company to secure a refund, the airline said.
