The defendant has been arrested after attempting to entice a child to Richmond Park using Snapchat.

The RCMP said they received a complaint about an unknown individual attempting to attract a youngster he met on Snapchat to Richmond Park in British Columbia. The Richmond RCMP said that the child's mother claimed that the stranger had been speaking with her child via a social media app and intended to meet near Steveston Community Park on Wednesday evening.

According to authorities, the suspect's mother arrived during the meeting and detained him until officers arrived. The accused suspect was released on court terms that he not communicate with anyone under the age of 18 or mingle with others. Police claimed they had identified several youths who had come into contact with the suspect. Anyone with more information on him is encouraged to contact the RCMP.

Police cautioned parents of children, teenagers, and young people to supervise their children's social media use and other activities. Strangers' friend requests should be ignored.
