Canada's provinces to raise minimum wage this year

Some Canadian provinces will see minimum wage increases this year. Provinces like New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Yukon have announced minimum wage increases. But Alberta and the Northwest Territories have not seen minimum wage increases.

Provinces with minimum wage increase as announced by the federal government:


New Brunswick's minimum wage will increase to $15.30 an hour starting April 1. Starting April 1, the minimum wage will increase to $17.59 in Yukon, $15.60 in Newfoundland and Labrador, and $15.20 in Nova Scotia.

Prince Edward Island's minimum wage will rise to $15.40 on April 1. Then on October 1, the minimum wage rate will rise again to $16. On October 1, Saskatchewan will raise its minimum wage to $15. British Columbia's minimum wage will rise to $17.40 starting June 1.

Meanwhile, the provinces of Alberta, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Ontario and Quebec will not see minimum wage increases this year.
