Avalanche Canada has issued a special avalanche warning for British Columbia and parts of Alberta. The warning is valid till March 4. Avalanche Canada says recent snowstorms across Western Canada have deposited significant amounts of snow, increasing the risk of avalanches. Fresh snow accumulates in weak layers established during February's drought conditions. Some areas have multiple weak layers.

Vulnerable layers are different from region to region. Avalanche Canada said they have been monitoring the layers for the past month and that the situation is critical.

A man died last weekend while snowmobiling in southwestern Alberta. A man was rescued from an avalanche near Revelstoke, BC on Monday. This is why an avalanche warning has been issued for tourists and adventurers.
