In Canada, the prices of groceries, food and essential items have increased. But a new report by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation shows that spending in the country will increase in the coming weeks. The report states that the expenditure in the country will increase sharply from April 1.

From April 1, Canadians will have to pay more per liter of gas and per cubic liter of natural gas. The increase in the federal carbon tax will raise gas prices across the country from 14.3 cents to 17.6 cents per liter. But CTF says gas prices can vary slightly depending on which province you live in. With the new tax hike, BC residents will pay 17 cents per liter of gas, 21 cents for diesel and 15 cents for natural gas.

Alcohol Escalator Tax increases on beer, wine and spirits will mean you pay more for alcohol. Effective April 1, there will be a 4.7 percent increase in the federal excise tax on liquor. The report says it will cost taxpayers nearly $100 million next year.
