Complaints against banks, the figures will shock

Figures show that complaints against banks in the country are increasing rapidly. The number of complaints registered under the Reserve Bank Ombudsman Scheme has crossed seven lakh. The number of complaints increased by more than 68 percent in FY 2022-23. Most of the complaints were based on issues like mobile, electronic banking, loans, ATM, debit cards, credit cards, pension payment, money transfer etc. Out of this, 1.96 lakh complaints were raised against banks.

  These figures are contained in a report released by the RBI Ombudsman. This is the first report under Reserve Bank Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, 2021. It includes information received from 22 offices and processing centers. A total of 7,03,544 complaints were received in the financial year 2022-23. The increase is 68.24 percent. The officials stated that the number of complaints is increasing due to public awareness regarding filing complaints against banks.
