Ireland Prime Minister Leo Varadkar resigns

 

Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar has resigned. The resignation was submitted after the cabinet meeting. Leo Varadkar stated that his resignation was for personal and political reasons.Along with the prime minister post he also resigned the chairman post of the Fine Gael party 
Although the resignation has been announced, parliament will only choose a new prime minister after a new leader is elected at the Fine Gael party's annual conference in April. Until then, Leo Varadkar will remain in office.
Leo Varadkar was the youngest person to become Prime Minister of Ireland. Indian-born Leo Varadkar is the country's first openly gay Prime Minister.
