People in North American countries including the United States, Canada and Mexico are excited to witness the longest total solar eclipse in the last 50 years. Now the next total solar eclipse will be visible on August 12, 2026. But it is only partially visible in North America. Experts report that this solar eclipse will be visible in parts of Europe. Scientists predict that another solar eclipse will be visible in Northern Canada in 2033. But people in northeastern BC and Alberta will have to wait until 2044 to see a total solar eclipse.

On March 30, 2033, a total solar eclipse will be visible over the Bering Strait, parts of eastern Russia, western Alaska, and the communities of Nome and Utkiavik. It will appear in the US and Canada on August 22, 2044. The solar eclipse will be visible in the Fort Nelson, Dawson Creek and Golden regions of BC, as well as the Grande Prairie, Calgary and Edmonton regions of Alberta that evening. But other parts of BC will be able to see the solar eclipse only partially. It is predicted that the solar eclipse will not be clearly visible from Prince Rupert to Vancouver Island.
