Astana: The authorities have used explosives to destroy the temporary dams built by the locals in flood-prone Kazakhstan following the massive melting of snow after the heat. Around 100,000 people have had to be relocated after the water level in the Ural River increased dramatically. International media reports that more than 3,000 houses are under water in Western Kazakhstan. The local government is currently demolishing temporary dams built by locals for agricultural purposes.
