Highway 401 car accident: Dead Indian couple identified

 

The Indian Consulate General has confirmed that an elderly couple killed in a car accident on Ontario Highway 401 are Indian nationals. The crash happened Monday while police were chasing a thief on Highway 401. A three-month-old baby and an elderly couple were killed in the accident. They were identified by the Consulate General of India. Manivannan (60), Mahalakshmi (55) and their three-month-old grandchild were tragically killed. The Indian Consulate said through X that it has visited the families of the deceased, expressed condolences and assured all help and support.

The Civilian Police's Special Investigations Unit has launched an investigation into a car crash in Whitby. Manivannan and his wife had come to Canada to visit their grandson. The child's parents have been hospitalized with serious injuries. The family lives in the Ajax area.
