NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh accused the Liberal government of paying more than $25 million to big companies Loblaws and Costco while reaping huge profits. On Wednesday, Singh criticized the government for paying out of public coffers to grocery chains that exploit Canadian citizens. The NDP says it received an Order Paper Question (OPQ) showing Loblaws and Costco received $25.5 million in government money between 2019 and 2023.

Singh accused the Liberals of deciding to hand over millions of dollars to grocery giants when grocery prices become unaffordable for Canadians. He criticized corporate companies for donating more than $25 million in public money while they were already making huge profits.
