JERUSALEM: The heavy bombardment by Israel in the main market of Jabalia in northern Gaza caused many buildings to catch fire. Volunteer organizations said that although there are reports that many people have been killed and injured in Jabalia, they are unable to reach there with medical aid. Bulldozers demolished buildings and factories in the northern city of Beit Hanoun. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said more troops would be sent to Rafah.

It also claimed to have destroyed Hamas tunnels in Rafah. Hamas responded with anti-tank rockets to Israeli tanks that entered the interior of Jabalia. South Africa's complaint against Israel at the UN World Court (ICJ) in The Hague has begun for 2 days. The demand is to stop attacking Rafa. This is the fourth time that South Africa has approached the World Court on the Gaza issue. Meanwhile, US forces have completed work on a temporary port in the Gaza Strip. Ships arriving by sea can dock here.
