A Leger survey reports that eight in ten Canadians support a woman's right to an abortion. And two-thirds do not want terms used to limit the reasons for having an abortion. The Leger survey also found that support for the province's idea to ban discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity in schools has dropped significantly.

Between May 10 and 12, 1545 people participated in the survey. The survey found that 80 percent of Canadians supported a woman's right to an abortion. Of these, 63 percent are strongly supportive. 11 percent were opposed. Females outnumbered males (84 percent to 76 percent). Most Canadian citizens over the age of 55 are supported. The survey found that nearly half believe the abortion debate in America will affect Canada.
