Longest Ice Bath: Swiss Athlete Sets World Record in Calgary

Athlete Andre Belibi from Switzerland held the Guinness World Record for the longest ice bath in Calgary on Friday. During the mission at Stampede Park in conjunction with the Calgary Marathon Runners' Expo, Belibi filled a glass box with ice and submerged it for four hours and six minutes. He beat the previous record of four hours and two minutes. 

Belibi says he trained for more than two years to accomplish this feat. Breathing, meditation and relaxation are the main things to practice. He said that he is focused on creating history. Belibi's world record attempt to raise money for Autism Canada   Officials said evidence will be submitted to Guinness Book to confirm the record. They also informed that this process can sometimes take weeks to complete. 

Belibi was monitored by the EMS team throughout the world record attempt. Pads and sensors were attached to Belibi's body to monitor heart rate, body temperature and carbon dioxide levels.
