Those who are visiting Japan and want to work can apply for the new digital nomad visa introduced by Japan. Japan is the first country to introduce this visa format after Indonesia, Portugal, Spain and Italy. This visa scheme allows foreigners to live and work in the country for six months a year along with their spouses and children. This visa program is designed for professionals who work remotely and travel from one place to another.

Earlier this year, the country's Immigration Services Agency (ISA) announced that the program would be introduced by the end of March. Later in April, the visa program was introduced. The Digital Nomad visa allows holders to work in Japan for up to six months. The Japan National Tourism Organization said in a statement that after this period, they must wait six months to reapply for the same visa status.

Citizens of about 49 countries and territories that have tax treaties and short-term visa exemption agreements with Japan can apply for a visa. Applicants must have private health insurance. They can bring their spouses and children to Japan. However, this visa does not issue residence card or certificate to the applicants. Certain government benefits may be limited to visa holders.
