Mayor Jyoti Gondek announced that Calgary will need to continue water restrictions as work continues to repair a broken water supply pipe. Repairs will not be completed soon as faults are found in more places. Therefore, the mayor clarified that the water restrictions will remain in place for up to five weeks. The city is experiencing severe water shortage after the main transmission pipeline that brings water to the city broke.

The fault has been found in five places and repairs are in progress. The mayor announced that although water consumption was down slightly from last week, restrictions were necessary. It was also suggested that water consumption should continue to be reduced until the line is fully operational.
