Airdrie RCMP have warned the public about counterfeit iPhones being sold on the online market to make them look genuine. Police officials said that there have been reports of fake iPhone scams in recent times. The police said that the phone was sold in a sealed iPhone box with proper labeling and therefore the victim thought it was a legitimate sale. But when he tried to use the Apple features on the phone, he realized that it was a fake phone and a scam. After taking the phone to an Apple store for inspection, it was confirmed to be fake. Then a complaint was lodged with the police.
Airdrie RCMP have warned to exercise extreme caution and ensure authenticity when purchasing products including phones online. Police warn that many products may appear to be legitimate but are likely to be counterfeit, and caution should be taken to avoid falling prey to fraud.
