Vitamix has recalled blender parts costing up to US$990, citing the possibility of deep cuts. Vitamix has recalled approximately 569,000 blending containers and blade bases for high-powered blenders sold in North America after reports of injuries from the blades in the blenders.

The container moves away from the blade base and the blades come out, Vitamix said in a statement. Earlier, the company had recalled 100,000 units in 2018 for the same reason. 27 people were reported injured that day.

Vitamix does not offer replacements or refunds for recalls. Officials said consumers should stop using the blender and contact the company for a repair kit. A protective plastic sheath that covers over the blade base is included in the repair kit. It will be accompanied by other instructions. Vitamix said it has worked with Health Canada and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission to evaluate remedial measures. It also stated that the repair kit has been approved.
