Paris Olympics get off to a grand start, Sindhu and Achanta Sarathkamal carry the Indian flag

Paris: A colorful start to the Olympics 2024 in Paris. The Greek team was the first to march past the Prauda grand ceremony on the banks of the Seine. The Olympic torch was received in the river Seine with a parade in the colors of the French flag. The opening ceremony, attended by French President Emmanuel Macron, International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach and many other dignitaries, surprised the world of sports, with a march past of athletes in 80 boats along the Seine River.

78 people from 12 categories represented India in the opening ceremony. After Honduras, the boat carrying the Indian players passed through the river Seine. Badminton players PV Sindhu and Achantha Sarathkamal have been the flag bearers for India in the March past.
