Parking rules tightened in Toronto. This has also increased the amount of fine imposed on those who violate the parking rules. The new rules came into effect from August 1. Among the 123 parking offences, which are enforced with the aim of improving road safety and reducing congestion, fines have been increased by more than 230 per cent in some cases. The new rules were approved by the City Council in April.

According to the new law, the fine for parking without paying at a meter has been increased from $30 to $50. Fines for parking prohibited vehicles on footpaths, footpaths or cycle paths have increased from $60 to $200. There is a threefold increase. Vehicles obstructing traffic through this route will also be controlled. Parking at an intersection can result in fines ranging from $60 to $200.

At the same time, the city will not inform about parking violation fines via text message. City officials warned that such messages are fake and to be cautious.
