Severe storms and hail cause heavy damage at Calgary airport

 

Heavy storms and hailstorms hit Calgary late Monday evening, causing heavy damage to the city and the international airport. Inside the airport, there was extensive damage, including rainwater seeping from the ceiling and pieces of ceiling tiles near the boarding gate. Due to the storm and rain, the passengers also faced difficulties. Several videos were posted by passengers on social media.

Part of the airport's domestic terminal building remained closed on Tuesday due to waterlogging due to hailstorm and heavy rain. Passengers were also transferred from here. But flights are still operating from other gates, the airport authority said. The airport authority said it was continuing to assess the damage and thanked passengers for their patience and cooperation.
