An Edmonton gas station employee convicted of terrorism offenses in the UK became aware of the terrorist links of the RCMP after he returned to Canada from Lebanon in 2017. Unsealed court documents reveal previously unpublished details about the life of Canadian national Khalid Hussain, 29, who arrived in the UK on July 17, 2023. In 2020, Khalid Hussain, who was associated with the terrorist group Al-Muhajiraun, was sentenced to five years in prison last week. Hussain was arrested by the London Police Counter Terrorism Command. He was born in Alberta but spent most of his life in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, unsealed court records show.

Hussein moved to Lebanon with his family at the age of seven to learn Arabic. Then he returned to Canada seven years ago at the age of 22. The British court says Hussain joined al-Muhajiroun three years after returning to Canada. Later he was going to London. Hussain's arrest was the result of an RCMP investigation that began in October 2019.
